We hosted another High School and Beyond Seminar on Saturday, October 3rd in Parker. This event helps to encourage homeschoolers to stick with the vision through high school and stimulates thinking outside the box for after high school. Kevin Swanson opened with the vision of homeschooling through high school.
Following Kevin, Bill Roach spoke on entrepreneurship and college alternatives.
I followed Bill encouraging parents that they can teach high school math and science.
After a lunch break, Meredith McKinney gave a talk on language arts.
After Meredith, Mike Cheney (big guy in the middle) explained CHEC’s AME program (Apprenticeship, Mentorship, and Entrepreneurship). Thanks to Scott Davidson (on the right) for once again coordinating this event.
The afternoon was rounded out with Transcripts/Portfolios/Resumes and College Scholarships by Paula Anderson–thanks Paula! As you know, CHEC is fueled by volunteers, so we are thankful to the Gebhard family for minding the bookstore during the event.
And here is a real live homeschooled high school student (Corey Cheney) who does not believe in teenage rebellion.
Keep an eye on our events list for upcoming events. We plan to do this again in the new year.
