What to study: Go to myspellit.com.  You will notice a list of words by language of origin available on the left.  These are the SpellIt! words, and will be the main source of words for the written portion of the Bee.  Once you register, we will send you a classroom list to study from as well.  Additionally, the following website will assist you as you prepare: www.spellingbee.com.  Click on "Students and Parents."

Deadline for registration: February 6, 2012.

Registration Confirmation: Since a confirmation e-mail will be sent to those who register with words from the classroom, it would be wise to register as early as possible.  Words from both lists will be used in the Spelling Bee.

The qualifying bee to advance to the state Spelling Bee is a written test of 50 words. The top seven spellers on this test will be able to participate in the Denver Post Colorado State Bee on March 10, 2012, at the Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th Street, Denver, CO. There will be an additional $20 fee for those who qualify and choose to then participate in the State Bee.

An oral bee for all participants will follow the written test and it is expected that everyone who is registered will participate. First, second, and third place ribbons will be awarded.

*Please note – even if you live in Boulder County, you may now participate in CHEC's spelling bee.
